Meet Kary Helmer:

Oral Systemic Dental Assistant

Kary is a native Texan from Argyle, TX. Working as a dental assistant in a clinical capacity for most of her 20+ year career, Kary has a deep understanding of the challenges being a member of the clinical team presents. She knows what works in a dental practice and what does not. She has a passion and deep knowledge for wellness, holistic dentistry and oral systemic health and sharing that with everyone she meets. She enjoys working with her patients to find the root cause of systemic disease and finding solutions for inflammatory reduction. She looks forward to bringing her clinical as well as administrative expertise to work for your organization. She has a unique ability to make everyone comfortable and laugh even in the most stressful of situations. Kary is a member of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health, the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, and was a clinical assistant for over 17 years and plays an important role as Health and Wellness Coordinator in her daily practice in Dallas, TX. She enjoys spending time with her husband Jason and two english bulldogs, Lucy and Ethel, baking and gardening.

Meet Shira Newman:

Oral Systemic Dental hygienist

Shira is a native of Overland Park, Kansas and a graduate of both the University of Kansas and NYU College of Dentistry where she earned degrees in Art History and Dental Hygiene. Shira is a certified biological dental hygienist, and has a foundation in oral systemic health. Shira has successfully completed the Bale-Doneen Preceptorship, broadening her understanding of root causes and their relationship to cardiovascular disease. Shira is a member of both the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health. Shira is passionate about conveying the bilateral relationship between your mouth and body, origins of inflammation, the role your gums and teeth play in disease, and practicing holistically. Clinically, her methods of treating patients using a multifaceted approach utilizing customized treatment and testing has resulted in the stability of her patients oral health. After working in New York City, and now Dallas, Texas, Shira noticed that the biggest challenge to a successful dental practice is the dental team itself. Therefore, Shira has focused on the dynamics of the team, how to incentivize and keep them long term, while working toward a dream that they feel a part of. Additionally, having an analytical mind and approach to life, Shira is able to focus in on what is no longer working for a practice and team, and alchemize it into success. In her spare time, she is an avid sports fan, bibliophile and wine lover who loves to cook and give back to her community any way she can.
